Celebrating Success at Breda Academy

At Breda Academy, we recognise the importance of celebrating our young people’s achievements, both inside and outside of the classroom. Therefore, a system of rewards is embedded in the structure of our school, so that all pupils are encouraged to try their best.
Achievement Points
Pupils are rewarded achievement points by teachers using a computerised system. Points can be rewarded for the following:
- Making a contribution to the community
- Positive attitude
- Doing good work
- Making good progress
- Maintaining a high level of attendance
- Excelling in extra-curricular activities
Badges and certificates will be awarded when pupils meet the following thresholds throughout the year:
- Bronze 50 points
- Silver 100 points
- Gold 200 points
Pupils’ points are also included on their school reports. The pupil who receives the most points throughout the academic year will receive a special award at the Annual Prize Distribution.
Heads of Key Stage and Heads of Year may also reward pupils in their Year Groups who have been awarded achievement points e.g. Pupil of the Month.
Breda Breakfast
Pupils who have been nominated by a member of staff for going ‘above and beyond’ at Breda are invited to attend our Breda Breakfastwith a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Raffles
Middle and Senior Leaders regularly visit classrooms throughout the week. Pupils identified as displaying excellent work, effort or behaviour will be given a raffle ticket, to be entered into our weekly prize draw where winners receive a gift voucher.
Annual Prize Evening
The Annual Prize Evening is a special event in the school calendar and provides an opportunity for a formal celebration of success. Recipients and their families are invited to the school to attend an evening which celebrates the achievements of our current pupils. Pupils are selected by their teachers to receive academic prizes, sporting achievement awards and recognition in other deserving areas.
