Restorative Peer Mentors

Each year, a group of Year 14 students work alongside East Belfast Alternative to become Restorative Peer Mentors.

Over the course the students look at mentoring conversations, using circles to build relationships.  They also study aspects of the adolescent brain and fight/ flight responses, look at the differences between equity and equality, and study the difference between peace building and peace keeping. Collaboration, the social discipline window, mediation and conflict are also covered during their training.

With restorative practice becoming increasing popular in education settings as a means of building relationships and repairing harm, our Restorative Peer Mentors are well equipped to make a difference within Breda Academy.
