Year 11 GCSE Science pupils experienced a rare and engaging trip on Thursday 25th January. Mrs Patterson and Mr Faloon led 20 year 11 pupils on a trip to Belfast City Airport where we boarded a (Bombardier built) FlyBE Q400-8 jet and flew out of NI, around the Isle of Man and back over Belfast Lough.
The trip did not end when the airplane taxied back into the airport as we disembarked and boarded a yellow Fire and Rescue bus. A guided tour of the airport Fire station followed where we learned how the 33 tonne £250m fire engines were equipped and used to fight fire. The staff were enthusiastically demonstrating the equipment, the cab and even the fireman pole! Lastly we were treated to a full water cannon demonstration outside as the fire truck drove past in full flow!
