Aims of Department
To develop and equip students with skills and a greater understanding of the business environment to facilitate their progression into further education or the world of employment.
To enable each student to fulfil their potential and increase their self -esteem and confidence through the use of role plays, presentations, business enterprise and industrial visits/guest speakers and other department events.
To provide students with the opportunity to gain experience in using a wide range of software packages and other business equipment through a range of vocational and non-vocational courses.
The department has to date sustained excellent results in GCE Applied Business, Occupational Studies and BTEC Business. This year’s results are:

CCEA GCE APPLIED BUSINESS
6 units over two years, four of which are assignment based and internally assessed (two-thirds of course) plus two externally assessed exam units (one third of course)
EDEXCEL BTEC LEVEL 3 TRAVEL AND TOURISM
6 units over two years, all of which are assignment based and internally assessed. Each unit carries the same weighting.

GCSE BUSINESS STUDIES – once a week – written, research or learning
GCSE BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS – once fortnight – research
